Well, it seems like now the time of waiting has gone! According to an alleged internal AT&T email leak reported by the wpcentral blog, Windows Phone Mango Update may come to AT&T on September 24th.
The report also discloses the name of handsets which will get an over-the-air upgrade: the HTC Surround, LG Quantum, and Samsung Focus. No words about HTC HD7S.
When asked to AT&T, they declined to comment on this rumor. Still, they left the following statement, ”Customers with qualifying Windows Phones will receive notices when the update is ready for download. Since the update will occur in stages, customers will receive the notices on a rolling schedule with different phones being updated at different times.”
This rumor supports the two other points that were being said about Windows Phone Mango devices. First, on Wednesday, Microsoft confirmed that Mango will be released by the end of the first week of October. Second, last week AT&T announced specs for its first Mango devices, the Samsung Focus Flash, Samsung Focus S, and HTC Titan.
In July, Fujitsu launched world’s first Windows Phone running Mango; Fujitsu IS12T. But it is only available in Japan. Nokia’s first Windows Phone device, codenamed “Sea Ray,” is expected to launch this fall.
