Apple to Hold iPhone 5 Media Event in Smaller Venue on Cupertino Campus

Some more reports about the iPhone 5 are saying that Apple’s October 4th iPhone 5 media event will be held on smaller venue in Cupertino Campus. This time Apple will use a more intimate setting on its Cupertino campus to reveal its next-generation iPhone to media members, forgoing its historical practice of utilizing large exhibition halls in downtown San Francisco.

The report is based on sources close to the company speaking to the Wall Street Journal’s All Things D blog. All Things D was also the first publication who reported that Apple’s iPhone 5 media event will be held on October 4th.

Well, its unclear why Apple broke its tradition of choosing large venues for its media events, like San Francisco’s Moscone Center or Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA). Here I want to tell you that the October 4th date conflicts with Oracle’s OpenWorld conference, which is being held at the Moscone Center and surrounding hotels from the 2nd to the 6th of October.

Apple’s Cupertino Campus is only fitted to house roughly a couple hundred. So it seems like the number of journalists permitted to attend this event will be extremely limited.

This is also being heard that Apple has blacked out all the staff vacations for the second week of October which means that the iPhone 5 may be launched at that time. So this rumor also supports the October 4th announce date for the product.
