Today AMD Revealed the desktop version of its Fusion Laptop APU. AMD launched Fusion earlier this month. The quad-core, 2.9GHz A8-3850 ($135) and 2.6GHz A6-3650 ($115) may appear in many stores today. Several vendors using AMD’s new A75 and A55 chipsets are required to use the new chips.

This APU is very similar in design to Intel’s second-generation Core CPUs (aka Sandy Bridge). The APU incorporates a graphics-processing core directly into the CPU silicon. This design helps a lot in power efficiency because there are no separate CPU and GPU chips.

The tighter integration also provides a faster performance than other APUs. Company’s new chips make use of a 32-nanometer manufacturing process. The chip trails Intel’s similarly priced Core i3 2100 on most productivity applications; but while playing games the A8-3850 performs better than the Core i3 chip.

We can see that AMD Fusion desktop APU chip (A8-3850) is the most high-end desktop chip that AMD has announced to date. The new chip also fits into your budget as compared to other chips with a price of $400-$600.

Recently I haven’t listen any big brand building their devices with these chips; but it may be soon. What do you think about these chips, let me and others know in the comments section below and keep visiting Gadget Media!
