Motorola Mobility just revealed a broadband device that works with a Wi-Fi router to allow consumers to watch live TV on a connected IP device anywhere around the home. They are calling this device as Motorola Televation and this device will give you power of watching TV even if you’re in the kitchen, sitting in the ground or taking rest in your bedroom.

Motorola Televation is a device that transcodes the MPEG-2 TV broadcasts into MPEG-4 IP streams for viewing on other devices (i.e. Android or iOS tablets, IP-connected TVs, etc). However, all devices should be on same network.

Motorola Televation has a 1GHz digital tuner and CableCard to access broadcast TV channels directly from a coax outlet. There’s a high-performance transcoder in the device that translates programming in real-time from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4. The transcoder also adjusts the resolution and sound quality according to the device to provide the best picture quality on each device.

The new Motorola Televation also has an Ethernet jack to plug directly into the home Wi-Fi router so the TV show can be wirelessly streamed over IP to any device connected to the same home network. Motorola Mobility also provides Software Development Kits with the device which allows users to easily develop client applications that enable the user to navigate, discover and select the show they want to watch.

So now lets see that what reaction this device will get from the customers. However, it seems to me like the device is very useful and has impressive features. What you think about it, let me and others know in the comments section and keep visiting Gadget Media!
