SpotWorld Tries to Please Apple for Getting Featured in App Store

As we know that one of the quickest ways to get popular on Apple’s App Store is “getting featured in ‘new and noteworthy’, ‘what’s hot’ and ‘staff favorites’ categories. But it is not easy to get featured in these listings. Because there is no algorithm or no special strategy to do so. Apps which get featured in these listings of App Store are decided by Apple at its own discretion.

Still SpotWorld has tried to find out a strategy to get featured in App Store. Company has designed a social networking app which allows users to find places to visit in some of the most world’s most popular destinations; and company says that they’ve created this app in such a way that it can match Apple’s tastes.

They found three designers; who previously worked for Apple, online payment company PayPal and movie social networking service Flixster, the team set to work. But while Apple makes standard designs for icons and buttons, SpotWorld decided to design its own custom buttons and icons to better meet their navigational needs.

Instead of presenting destinations as a boring list; SpotWorld added some images to those destinations for giving an emotional impact.

A spokesman for Apple declined to comment on SpotWorld’s strategy.

This app officially launched on Monday but one thing which is out of company’s control is the timing of when Apple evaluates apps. Developers say that apps are updated on Thursdays but it isn’t necessary for apps to get featured as soon as they are launched.

So now we can just wait and watch that if SpotWorld gets featured by Apple’s App Store. If the app gets featured in anyone of these categories and I come to know, then I’ll update this post. So keep visiting us!

Update: Spotworld Got featured in “New & Noteworthy” app in the travel category of the App Store on Wednesday.
