Well, we can’t ever imagine how technology is getting advanced day-by-day. Have you ever thought about folding your phone like a piece of paper before putting it in your pocket? Probably your answer will be “NO.” But some Canadian Researchers have invented a phone which can be folded like a piece of paper. And they’ve named it as “PaperPhone.”
This phone does most of the things phones do nowadays like placing calls, scrolling down through contacts, playing songs and even paginating text. Another interesting thing about this phone- its command interface goes through an innovative set of bend sensors rather than relying on a user’s touch.
The phone is made of 3.7-inch Bloodhound flexible electrophoretic display, created by the Arizona State University Flexible Display Centre, and a layer of five two-inch Flexpoint bidrectional bend sensors. It is powered by the E Ink Boradsheet AM 300 Kit, including a Gumstix processor.
Possibilities from this device are broad. It can make the dream of Paperless Offices true. You can use it like a fantastic Smartphone- fold it, work on it, call from it and even write on it! You can also use it like an electronic PocketBook. What else one will expect from his/her Smartphone?
Roel Vertegaal, the lab director and creator of this phone said ““This is the future. Everything is going to look and feel like this within five years.” And, I also agree with him. Prototype of this phone will be shown at the Computer Human Interaction event, Vancouver, Canada on May 10.
