Secure Shell Network Protocol (generally known as SSH Protocol) is a network protocol and it allows you to establish a remote connection between two or more hosts. And this feature helps us in accessing the file system of the iPad Touch through our Windows or Mac PC.

To access ipad file on your Mac or Windows computer you must need CyberDuck, a third party software which allows you to connect your device. If you don’t have it, then first download and install it. And yes, one more thing: Please make sure that your iPad is Jailbroken. If it is not, then firstly follow these steps to Jailbreak your iPad. After Jailbreaking and installing CyberDuck, try the steps given below:

First of all we’ll take a look at the requirements-

  • An iPad WiFi or iPad 3G Jailbroken
  • A WiFi network. Note that your iPad and computer must be connected to the same wireless network.
  • OpenSSH installed on the device.
  • A third party program to connect your device : For Windows use WinSCP, Mac users can go for Cyberduck.

Now after completing the requirements, follow the steps given below-

  • Open “Cydia” on your ipad.
  • Now install “OpenSSH” and then reboot your device.
  • Connect your device with your computer.
  • Launch “CyberDuck”. Click on “Open Connection”. Then enter following details:

Server: The IP address of your device (you can find it by going to “Settings” -> “WiFi”, and then click the blue arrow next to wireless network)

Username: apple

Password: 123456

Protocol: SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)

  • After entering the above details then click on “Connect”.

Cheers!  If everything goes right, then now you’ll be able to access your ipad files on your Windows or Mac. Enjoy the moment and keep visiting Gadget Media.
