Today at Computex 2011 in Taipei, ASUS revealed its Padfone; A tablet and a smart phone mash-up. Its a gadget which is made by joining a tablet and a smart phone. The gadget looks so cool and the features are also very amazing.

In the past, we have seen some devices which turn into something totally different from their niche like IdeaPad U1 Hybrid with LePad from Lenovo ( a netbook which turns into a tablet), ASUS EEE Pad Transformer ( an android tablet which turns converts into a laptop form factor with a keyboard accessory).

But this device is totally different from others. Its smart phone component slides into the tablet for a large screen experience. ASUS is not saying anything about Padfone. But we know that it runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich which supposedly merges the Android 3.0 Honeycomb and the Android 2.3 Gingerbread platforms together. The most useful components of the new Padfone are in its Smartphone Component ( i.e. processor, memory, storage, and network connectivity). The tablet component only provides a larger screen and a tablet styled battery.

We know that ASUS is already very clever about its pricing strategy, no like Motorola which priced the laptop dock for the Atrix at an amount which can buy a full-blown netbook. This device will be very amazing because many Android apps have both a smart phone and tablet version inside one file. So it will be amazing to see if the version of app switches already when we turn the device between Smartphone and Tablet.

ASUS is also introducing a keyboard dock for the device which will turn the device to a netbook. So turning a smartphone to a tablet and then o a netbook will would be a geek’s dream come true. The device will be launched till the end of this year but we aren’t sure because ASUS hasn’t told anything about the device. So lets wait for this superb gadget and keep visiing Gadget Media for further details on this topic.
