As soon as we say the word Nanogenerators, a figure of potentially charged tiny fibers comes before our eyes. We know that Nanogenerators are insanely tiny fibers that can easily juice up your smartphone.
Dr. Zhong Lin Wang from Georgia Institute of Technology has already said that his team of Einsteins constructed nanogenerators to potentially power your LCDs, LEDs and laser diodes just by moving your various limbs.
These Micro-PowerHouses (1/500 width of a single hair strand) are embedded with piezoelectric zinc oxide atoms and can generate electricity when squeezed, flexed or strained.
Wang and his team of Scientists showed a collection of their nanogenerators into a chip which was 1/4 of the size of a stamp. Then he stacked five of them on top of one another and can pinch the stack between their fingers to generate the output. The output was equal of two standard AA Batteries (1.5 volts).
Well, I know, its not much….but just imagine, how convenient it is to charge your smartphone into your pocket instead of using costly battery add-ons. And we know that it is just an option of this technology. Yup!
