When we firstly heard about iPlayer a few years ago, it was not doing too good. But when people started catching TV on their own time; the iPlayer got popular. To keep the popularity of iPlayer increasing, BBC is now going to launch a browser-based version of iPlayer for mobile devices.

Apple’s iOS will get a Flash-Less version while Android’s app will get both Froyo and Flash 10.1 to run this app. Not only BBC content will be availableon iPlayer, even media from other companies, which is called “inter-linking” will also come now to the iPlayer. But unfortunately the app will not be available outside of UK due to license restrictions. But, there still may be something special in the works by way of a subscription to the BBC.

Users will be able to browse the last seven days of media over Wifi and 3G, but the streaming will only work over Wifi. Now we have to see that will BBC be able to increase iPlayer’s popularity by this step?
